A brief review of the season...

Wow!   And just like that 2012 is almost gone... another year, thousands of miles logged for Comprehensive Racing and thousands of dollars raised for charity!  Someone the two just go hand in hand, Comp Racing and fundraising!  This blog post is not going to cover everything we've done this year, but more it's just to remind people that while triathlons, marathons, running races, and bike races are important to Comp Racing, helping out, putting our fundraising skills to the test is something that is often overlooked.  This year we raised money for charity through marathons, runs, Ironmans, The Witches Cup and bike rides!  We raised money for lung cancer, brain cancer, cancer research, and diabetes!  We raised money for the homeless, for education funds and for the troops.  In the last five years, we've raised over $75,000 for charities and this year was no different.  Our biggest fundraising event was for the Tour de Cure, with about $8K, but certainly no less important were all of the other events.  This time of year we are waiting on the last numbers to come in from our members, but, we have once again exceeded $10,000 in charity.  As one of the original founders of Comp Racing, it makes me proud that our members continue to remember that year in and year out, fundraising efforts are a major focus for this team.  Thanks!

And just a few racing stats that I can remember off-hand:

Marathons:  At least 5 different ones! (3 by Capt P, in a 4 week span)
Ironmans: FL, LP, Canada
1/2 Ironmans:  Mooseman, Timberman, Firmman
Triathlon Nationals:  3 athletes
Personal Bests for Triathlon:  Countless!
Triathlon Podiums:  A whole bunch!  (And even I got one!)
Road cycling Upgrades from Cat 5: 4
Road cycling Upgrades from Cat 4: 1
Track Cycling Upgrades: 3
Cyclocross Upgrades to Cat 3: 2 (So far...)
Competitors at Master's Track National Championships: 1 (Captain Stephen P)
Competitors at Master's Track Worlds in England:  1 (Captain Stephen P)
Cyclocross Starts: 122
Cyclocross Finishes: 122

This is just a small list of the accomplishments for this season!  We had a great year at the track, on the road, on the trails, in the water, between the tape, over the barriers, around the corners... you name it!  And most importantly, WE HAD FUN!!!!

Thanks for listening!
