Coast Guard Duathlon - Comp Romp!

On a day that was marked by some serious headwinds, some very weird weather, a dropped muffler and a huge showing for the black and orange, Comprehensive Racing continued its dominance in the early season FIRM Grand Prix series bringing out a few of the big guns for the last duathlon of the early season, resulting in the 1st and 3rd place overall females and wins in their age groups, with Elaine and Tonya. In addition to Tonya, Laura and Abigail continued the teams dominance in the 35-39 category taking 2nd and 4th. In the women's division in additon to Elaine, Dawnie, in her return to competition wearing all sorts of sports tape, took a 4th in the 40-44. Also making her return to individual competitions, Jen secured an 8th place in the athena division despite some bike issues and some rain to finish the race!

On the men's side Patrick took a top 10 overall and an age group victory, finaling breaking his 4th place streak. Paul "Bo" represented in the clydes in his first individual race as a Comp Racer and while pulling of a PR of my own by almost 3 minutes, I still managed to finish 11th in the 35-39... What's a guy gotta do to break the top 10 around here?! Also pulling in more points for Comp Racing was Bob D, finishing a solid 11th as well, with his up and coming Comp Racing son racing the 2nd run leg with Bob!

On the team side, there was a shake-up in the top spot! Will this mean that Don will be putting on a bigger chain ring?! Turning in a blistering 6:15 pace on both runs was new recruit Rich, anchored, and I mean that in the best way, by big Paul cranking out a 23+ MPH ride! Would it be enough to combat Dave B's fleet feet and Don V, big ring?! Indeed it was as Comp Racing took the top two overall spots in the relays. In addition, despite a last minute fill-in, Comp Racing fielded a 3rd all male team with Eric and Joe! Awesome job guys!!!! There will be a follow-up to this report regarding how to repair a muffler....

That's about it... A powerhouse day for Comp Racing!

As soon as the GP points are up, I will send out an update, but after Wrentham, we are kicking butt and taking names! Hopefully the trend continues as triathlon season is upon us!

  1. Nice catch all summary Capt Kurt. But don't forget soon-to-be-wed Mike "your landloard" Riordan and another 3rd place podium for the O&B. And of course a duathlon wouldn't be complete without a 2 by 2 brunch at the Bourne Bridge IHOP! Yumma! I got some great shots at the race that I'll place on-line soon. So designer McGyver, how did design the remedy for Eric's muffler? brake cable? hanger? Paul's speedo?

  2. We used the consistantly solid move of "kicking" the exhuast system to the ground. Unfortunately our designer white clothes hangers weren't up to the challenge.

thanks again I had a great time.
